Mindstorms Grant Application Fall 2007
Eligibility:
-
Applicant
must be currently teaching in an accredited Kansas
school
-
Applicant
must enroll in and successfully complete the
one-hour graduate-level course, CI 751B, Robotics in
the Classroom, Fall 2007 (September 13, 14, 15)

Amount of Award:
Successful applicants will receive the
following (valued at over $300**):
-
1 LEGO
Mindstorms NXT robotics kit
-
1 license for
programming software
**Equipment furnished through a
grant from Spirit Aerosystems
Successful applicants may enroll
in CI 752L, Robotics Projects, Fall 2007, for an
additional one-hour of graduate credit. Additional work
will be required for the course.
Commitments:
-
Successfully complete the one-hour course, CI 7521B,
Robotics in the Classroom, Fall 2007, at Wichita
State University
- Form a
robotics team of 4th-8th grade
students at your school
-
Register and bring a team of students to compete at
the 2008 Mindstorms Challenge on February 16, 2008.
(A “professional” level team must have between 8-15
students; an “apprentice” team must have 5-10
students. The team level determines the missions
(and eligible prizes) for your team.
Application
requirements:
A complete application will include the
following:
- A
completed grant application.
- A
letter (600 words or less) discussing why you want
to establish a robotics team at your school
- A
letter of reference from your school principal or
district-level administrator in support of your
commitment to establish and coach a robotics team at
your school

Completed applications must be received on or before
