Story:
The X-Men have been called out to yet another
mission! Magneto and his henchmen have taken over
part of the X-Mansion and have dug tunnels into the
basement. While the rest of the X-Men contain the
invasion, it’s up to you, Jean Gray, to make your
way into the tunnels and try and free your friends
to aid the others! First you must enter the dark and
looming hole that awaits you. Be careful for the
sides, as they are intensely hot from being cut
through. The passageway that awaits you is
completely dark and unfamiliar. Connect to the
thoughts of the hostages to do your best to recreate
the hallways in your mind. Using the psychic
schematic of the passage, make your way down it! The
further you go, the more the other X-Men have a
chance of getting down the passage to their friends.
If you can make it all the way to then end you will
notice that there is a room. You sense five people.
You’ve found your friends! With limited time you
must free one to help you before the robots return.
The ones closest to you are weaker in power, but you
sense that the one farther away can make light; so
freeing that person could be the most beneficial.
Can you make it through the entrance and down the
foreboding cavern? Who will you decide to set free
to save the rest? The choice is yours! Good luck
X-Men!
Description:
Updated 1/27
The
course starts with a pad sticking out from the larger
section of the course. The robot will start with the
rear wheels as far back as possible from the arch ahead.
The team will then let the robot go so that it goes
through the arch and ahead to the walled course. This
challenge is divided into three sections. The first
section is a straight line from behind the arch to the
first turn. The second section is from that prior point
to before the zig-zagging design. The third section is
from that last point to the black tape at the end of the
lines. The black tape is there to give the robot a cue
of a light range with which to stop on. At this point
there are five blocks arranged ahead. The arrangement of
the first four is symmetrical about an axis straight
ahead of the black tape. The blocks are a few inches to
the left and right and then a few inches back. The
second block behind those is another few inches back.
The fifth block is left of the left section of initial
blocks. These blocks represent the people needing
rescue. The closest blocks are worth fewer points than
the ones farther away. The point spread is listed on the
scoring table.
Bill of Materials:
