Teacher Education Course Technology Integration
This survey asks you which technology skills your students will need in order to complete course assignments and activities successfully in the teacher education course you are assigned to teach next semester. The data you supply will be compiled into a table that will be used to identify what skills are required of all students. This information will be used by faculty and staff for planning purposes.
Some instructors have already begun to identify needed technology skills in their course syllabi. For example:
Technology and technology skills needed for this course are computer, printer, email, and Internet connectivity. Students are expected to word process, send and receive email, and search for information on the Web.
This encourages students to either take a class, a mini-workshop, or ask for help if they lack the necessary skills. We began a pilot project in Spring 2001 by offering mini-workshops in PowerPoint to help students develop skills needed to complete assignments. We will continue to offer those workshops if the need is there.
