Danielle Wildeman

Take a look at this map that traces John Brown’s life according to where he spent portions of his life.  The areas range from the original thirteen colonies to the new Midwest.

Following John Brown: 1800-1859

This map lets you follow the abolitionist as he criss-crosses the country. You can access information chronologically or by location.

  1. In what state was John Brown hanged after being found guilty of murder, treason, and inciting a slave insurrection?

  2. Where did his wife take his body to be buried after his death?

  3. What was the name of the town in Kansas that John Brown directs his men to murder five proslavery settlers?  What was the date and year in which this happened?  What Amendment made slavery illegal?

Do you agree/disagree with John Brown about slavery?  Do you agree/disagree with his actions toward slavery in Kansas?  Why or Why Not?  Take a stand!!!  Be sure of your answer.
