Using the site below, find the diagram of the Rock Cycle. If that site doesn't work try these: Nebraska
Rocks and the Rock Cycle Copy the picture of the rock cycle into a paint file; then using a digital camera, go outside (perhaps in conjunction with a field trip) and take digital photographs of examples of each of the three major rock types and paste them into the rock cycle diagram in their appropriate section. Try and find at least one example of each rock type. |

Part 1: Visit the following sites on the internet. Find pictures of different fossils and save them. Museum of Paleontology, University of California Burkeley Part 2: Find definitions of the following vocabulary words on the internet or in your book (p. 160). In your own words, type them in Microsoft Word. Imprint Part 3: Paste the pictures into a Microsoft Word Document under their corresponding type. Ask your teachers if you can show the pictures to them on the computer or if you are to print them out. Variation 1: Instead of using Microsoft Word, Use FrontPage Express to create webpages. Submit to your teacher for possible posting. |

Work together on a team to prepare a presentation on a rock tope (Igneous, Sedimentary, or Metamorphic). Visit the following sites and/or read in your book about the attributes of their rock type. Department of Geological Sciences, University of Saskatchewan Nebraska Rocks and the Rock Cycle Use Microsoft Word to create lists of all your rock type's attributes. Ask the teacher to transfer this information onto an overhead. Create posters, overheads, charts, models, computer pictures, computer presentations, etc. about your rock type. Present your information to the class. |
