Course objectives: At the successful completion of Handheld Computers, participants will:
  • Recognize the basic types of handhelds.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of basic functions:
    • Address book
    • Date book
    • Memo pad
    • To do list
    • Calculator
    • Find
  • Demonstrate entering data in the handheld by:
    • Hot syncing
    • Using internal keyboard
    • Graffiti
    • Beaming
    • Using external keyboard
  • Understand how to use categories to organize information
  • Find, download and install Palm OS applications
  • Create and hot sync a document and simple spreadsheet.
  • Use a web form to collect data
  • Understand availability and suitable use of peripherals
  • Explore web resources for integrating handhelds in education
  • Develop a lesson or proposal for using handhelds in the classroom.
