M.A.C.E. Spring Conference
H.E.L.P. I and II
both participated in a three hour demonstration and poster session
at the Mid-America Computers in Education spring conference in
Manhattan, Kansas on March 3, 2004. Participants visited 14 poster
demonstrations designed to share how the H.E.L.P. ers are using
handhelds in their classrooms. Elliot Soloway gave the keynote
address prior to the H.E.L.P. event. Fifteen H.E.L.P.ers also gave
individual presentations at the conference.
Grande Finale a Grand Success
The Grande Finale
Showcase May 5, 2003 that wrapped up a successful H.E.L.P. year was
acknowledged a resounding success by both attendees and H.E.L.P.ers..
Students, teachers and administrators gave presentations on wide range
of positive impacts the project has had on student learning and
engagement.

H.E.L.P.ers Take the Lead
at Tech Conference
H.E.L.P. topics and participants were front and
center at a state technology conference, providing 8 of the 10
presentations of the handheld computing strand. The handheld strand
was a debut for the Mid-America Association for Computers in Education
(MACE), and H.E.L.P.ers took pride in helping make it a success.

Video Conference with Elliott Soloway
The video conference with Elliott Soloway of Hi-CE's
Learning in the Palm of
Your Hand and the H.E.L.P. group on February 3, 2003 was a great
success. Participants came away energized by Mr. Soloway's
enthusiasm and vision of handheld computers' role in providing access
to every student. The quality of the broadcast over the high-speed
Internet2 connection was superb.
