The Grande Finale Showcase
May 5, 2003, which celebrated a successful H.E.L.P. year, was
acknowledged a resounding success by both attendees and H.E.L.P.ers..
Students, teachers and administrators gave presentations on the
positive impacts the project has had on student learning and
engagement.
The Grande Finale
celebration provided an opportunity for each team to share experiences
and outcomes in a conference-like setting. Presentations throughout
the day covered a range of topics, from classroom management tips to
transforming a high school journalism class.
While the presentations
were well-attended on in two meeting rooms at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex,
the halls were abuzz with activity. Each school mounted an impressive
table display (several with videos), and these more informal poster
sessions allowed H.E.L.P.ers and students to interact directly with
Showcase visitors. The consensus opinion was that the students made
articulate, knowledgeable spokespeople for integrating this technology
tool into their education.
